In recognition of Wisconsin School Board Week, we want to thank the members of the Genoa City Jt. 2 School Board for their ongoing commitment to serve the Brookwood School Community! School Board Members play a vital role in ensuring that decision-making within the district is aligned with the values of the community. Our School Board has championed a "Children First" mentality that creates opportunities for all of our students and staff members to grow into their greatness! Our Brookwood Family is THE BEST! #BeBrookwood #BrookwoodsBest https://tinyurl.com/yy9xjtew

Students in 2nd grade began their new social studies unit on mapping. They began their unit by looking at different maps through various resources. Students will learn about map keys and cardinal directions as well. At the end of the unit, students will be working on making a map of their own. #BeBrookwood #BrookwoodsBest

Our Brookwood Family Organization is open to all families that have family members enrolled into our GCJ2 School District. The BFO's goal this year is to foster a sense of unity among families and staff. We are committed to ensuring that every single child feels this sense of community, connection, love, and support. We have our event dates set and we are looking for volunteers to become a part of each of the committees to help plan the events. If you can’t make it to our meeting but would like to help, please feel free to email our BFO at brookwoodfamily19@gmail.com. The meeting will be in person at the elementary school with an online live meeting as well. Our in-person meeting will be hosted outside at the BES playground, we ask that you please bring your own chair to make yourself comfortable and a mask for possible small group discussion times. Our first meeting on Oct. 6th at 6pm---for those joining virtually—the link is included below. September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month and we are thankful that this year we were able to continue on with our tradition of our Gold Walk at both schools this past Friday. We have partnered with Kisses from Keegan and Friends, a local pediatric cancer foundation, that supports local children fighting cancer. Keegan, who is a Brookwood alumni, put together this video to share with our students and community: https://youtu.be/n7_b9P7xFc0 To continue to help support raising awareness for childhood cancer, our District will be continuing to collect donations until the end of this month. The money that our District raises will be matched by Kisses from Keegan and Friends to help support a local child that is currently fighting cancer in our community. Please feel free to send your donations to either school office and to write checks out to Kisses from Keegan and Friends. If you have questions, please call the middle school office at 262-279-1053

These third graders are presenting Wasp Traps that they made to our GCJ2 Facilities Manager, Bill Erickson, for use around the district grounds. The traps were constructed during their Science class under the direction of our BES science teacher Melissa Bobula! They were constructed to be entirely environmentally-friendly to be put around our grounds at our schools. #BeBrookwood #BrookwoodsBest

Kindergarten students in Mrs. Renn’s class use Google Meets to meet with their reading partners. Students love being able to talk about their favorite parts of books that they had previously read to themselves. Way to go, readers! #BeBrookwood #BrookwoodsBest
