BES scientists wrapped up the 2023 year by learning about reindeer, caribou in the United States. They learned many interesting facts such as how they conserve heat, that a week old caribou can outrun an Olympic runner, and one of the first sculptures was of 2 reindeer swimming across a lake. A special thank you the Meier family for letting us borrow this reindeer pelt! BES scientists were amazed at how soft it felt!

Leadership students at BMS are working on "soft skills" for future careers and life. They are concentrating on teamwork, communication, and listening skills. They were recently challenged with a few tasks as teams: They had to stand on a blanket as a team and flip it over without getting off the blanket and did amazing! They also had to work together to stack cups by using a rubber band with 5 strings tied to it. They could only move the cups using the rubber band. When they put their minds together they are unstoppable. A focus all semester has been serving others. Many of the students helped out at school with events before and after school. They created bowls for our Empty Bowls fundraiser for the food pantry and they came to serve the soup at the event. They also created blankets for Kisses from Keegan & Friends to deliver to Children's Hospital for Christmas. Some students stepped up at home and helped with chores or yard work at home. Their hopes were to give back and make someone's life a little easier.

Get your Winter Reading Activity sheets out and see if you can find which fact belongs to which staff member! Remember to get your sheet turned into your child’s main office when we get back from Winter Break to get a prize from our Family Engagement Team!! If you can’t find your sheet…just log them on a piece of paper, but don’t forget your name, homeroom teacher, and listing the additional three facts about yourself! See you on the 3rd, Mustangs, and we hope you enjoy the rest of your Winter Break! *Link to Winter Reading Activity: http://tinyurl.com/4m54e552
