What a great day for a Gold Walk! Thank you to everyone that donated to our cause of raising awareness for pediatric cancer with Kisses from Keegan and Friends. We are excited to announce that we will be accepting donations until the end of the month because whatever we raise; Kisses from Keegan and Friends will be matching our donation amount to help support a local child fighting cancer as a compiled donation. Mustangs! Don't forget about our Gold Walk on Friday! Did you know that September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!? Kisses from Keegan and Friends is a pediatric cancer foundation that supports local kids fighting cancer. Keegan is currently a Freshman this year at Badger and attended Brookwood throughout her elementary and middle school years and was diagnosed with cancer while at Brookwood. We are excited to partner with this foundation to help raise awareness to all about Childhood Cancer. All donations donated for this Gold Walk will be going towards Kisses from Keegan and Friends to help support their mission of helping to support local children fighting cancer. #BeBrookwood #BrookwoodsBest

Virtual and in-person students in Mrs. Brault's Kindergarten class get together daily on Google Meet to practice word work skills such as: rhyming, beginning sounds, blending syllables, segmenting syllables, and repeating sentences with fluency. Virtual Cross-Country Season Week 2! Wow! We had such a great turnout for our first week, so many of you were able to find the secret location where Mr. Guth was running! First graders have been working hard on their addition skills. Students each have a math toolkit that contains math manipulative to help them solve tricky problems. They are also using their other resources while working on math like their math books and iPads. We like to send pictures to our family members to let them know what we are learning. #BeBrookwood #BrookwoodsBest

Students in 7th grade Language Arts took a quiz in a fun and unique way! They answered questions about Characterization via an app called "Quizziz." This fun and interactive website allows the teacher to create assessments for students that helps them to learn literary terms and how to apply them while also challenging them to get the most points and beat their classmates. There are funny memes to encourage them to keep doing their best and even strategy boosters to help them get a better score. Students love this app and the best part is, they are learning at the same time as playing a game! #BrookwoodsBest #BeBrookwood

4th and 5th Graders are learning all about the sun, moon, and stars. Students learned about how our shadows change throughout the day because of the earth's rotation. Students traced their water bottle's shadow in the morning and then observed the change in the shadow placement in the afternoon. They also had fun playing shadow tag, shadow shaking hands, and getting creative with their shadows. #BeBrookwood #BrookwoodsBest

Way to go Middle School Mustangs!! Students in 4/5 STEAM were put to the challenge of seeing how strong paper could be. Using triangles they made by folding strips of paper, they constructed a structure that would be strong enough to hold a small object. Other students wanted to see how high they could build their structure. This activity helped us work on our problem-solving skills! Grades 6-8 art classes were asked "Who are you?" and worked on creating a self-portrait that told the viewer who they are behind the mask. The students' drawings were full of wonderful details and it was great seeing our Mustang artists back in creative action! #BeBrookwood #BrookwoodsBest
